Paddle Review: Ace Pickleball Diamond

Ace Diamond Pickleball Paddle

The first thing you will notice about the ACE Diamond paddle when you pick it up is that it is a thin and lightweight paddle. The ACE Diamond weighs in at around 7 ounces and has a 10mm thickness, making it one of the thinnest and lightest paddles on the market.

The elongated handle (5.5 inches), enables players using the ACE Diamond to utilize a smooth two-handed backhand. The handle circumference of 4.25 inches is relatively standard amongst paddles and gives the players a comfortable grip that can be built up with grip tape if desired. The ACE Diamond is certainly a very comfortable and easy-to-maneuver paddle.

Unlike most newer paddles the ACE Diamond is not thermoformed. However, it is one hundred percent a power paddle. So, what makes the ACE Diamond so powerful? Its honeycomb Aramid core. Aramid fibers are man-made fibers known for their tensile strength and low weight. Polypropylene, which is what most paddle cores are made of, is not as strong aramid.

Playing with this paddle is an interesting experience, the light-weight takes some getting used to, but once you adjust it’s a fun paddle to play with. It has a lot of pop, so like most power paddles control shots take more effort and concentration. I enjoyed the lighter weight and found I could play for a couple of hours with no arm fatigue and felt much quicker at the net. The net and hand battles are where the ACE Diamond excels. The T700 raw carbon face provides the spin most players will expect out of a raw carbon surface. When going for put-aways, the ball flies off the paddle face like a rocket. It's evident why this paddle is chosen by Gabe Joseph, a Top 10-ranked singles player.

If you are looking for a lightweight power paddle that allows for blazing fast hands at the net, but also powerful drives from the baseline, the ACE Diamond is an excellent choice. This is not a paddle for beginners, it is best suited for intermediate to advanced players. The ACE Diamond should be on the top of any player's list who is looking for a powerful singles paddle.
